The Unknown Organ
The true value of something never gets into our notice until it’s completely gone forever. It’s true in every case often resulting in huge disappointment but for once it resulted in a really brilliant invention in the history of medical sciences. It was the invention of the Brain our most precious possession that differentiates us from everything else in the world. But our ancestors thought of it a it differently actually worse they thought it was an useless organ!. From the time of the first civilizations like the Egyptians (who were the only people whom knew something about anatomy) till the medieval ages no one really cared or even considered brain to being the most important organ.
The ancient Egyptians strongly believed that it is of no use and only the heart is the most important of them all which is evident from their process of mummification they preserved only the heart, eyes, tongue and even liver but completely left out the brain to rot (apparently they even proved it by crack opening many skulls and removing a part of the brain and showing one could live even without it). This ideology of brain being a useless organ continued for centuries by the Greeks, Mayans, Romans and everyone else. The Romans even believed it was responsible for cleaning blood as many small tubes led to it (probably nerves). Only recently in the mid 1500’s its obvious use was found ‘to control’ even today this unbelievably strange organ lies as a mystery to all.
The human brain is the most complicated living machine ever created by nature, think about all the functions it can perform, it enables vision, hearing, sense of touch, the ability to judge and the most important of them all it enables thinking. It’s sad people only realized its true purpose (and still finding) only a few years back but it has still proved to be most invaluable in knowing the truth about the human body and in curing of numerous diseases. And we still haven’t evolved much either we only use about 4% of its abilities in our entire life, but still many don’t care about it don’t bother to develop it, maybe they will realize it someday after everything is gone.
